Dis on God or dis on engineer?

Ben (my roommate) sent this link to me. It's a CNN article containing some Catholic opinions on ID. I think Ben was more taken back by the dis on engineers than the dis on God.

"The intelligent design movement belittles God. It makes God a designer, an engineer," said Vatican Observatory Director George Coyne, an astrophysicist who is also ordained. "The God of religious faith is a god of love. He did not design me." (second to last paragraph)

I can't believe he made such a strong statement. God did not
design us? What... he just stumbled upon Earth one day and
said to himself, "Jee, these randomly evolved creatures sure
could use some love!"

"Like in nature to a train-riding hobo?"

Hmmm.... Does that mean you travel a lot? Or that you do not shave often? Or maybe that all of your belongings could be packed up quickly and easily in case you need to make a quick getaway? Or maybe it's referring to the large quantity of canned food you eat?

Hey! That dictionary entry was pretty accurate after all!
